The goals of the MMAPA are to provide a parents support network and serve as a liaison between parents and the Academy, be a focal point for dissemination of information, and actively support Academy programs and activities.

Welcome to the Maine Maritime Academy Parent's Association website. As parents and friends of prospective MMA students, you probably have several questions and are not sure about who you should ask. We are here to help you today, or you can feel free to contact us in the future at our e-mail address below. We have no direct affiliation with the school just something in common with it; wanting the best for your students.

ATTENTION!

PARENTS OF ALL RETURNING STUDENTS: Beginning with the upcoming academic year (2008-09) MMA is making a change to the procedure regarding student health insurance. The POLICY IS NOT CHANGING – ALL students MUST have health insurance or they MUST purchase the health insurance offered by MMA.

In previous years students had to provide proof of insurance prior to entering their freshman year and then were only required to provide updates if necessary.

The NEW procedure will be: ALL students must provide updated insurance information prior to the start of each academic year. If insurance information is not provided, students will be billed for MMA insurance.

The great news is that your son/daughter will be able to provide your insurance information on-line through Sea Campus! As of June 15th, the on-line waiver will be available for them to complete. They just log on to their Sea Campus account and fill out the waiver form and they’re done!

If your daughter/son does not fill out the on-line form prior to July 15th, they will be billed for MMA Student Health Insurance on the first bill (usually generated and mailed right around July 15th). They will still be able to do the waiver and have the charge removed through the week of add/drop – but why wait!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Deidra Davis ( deidra.davis@mma.edu ) or Diana Snapp ( diana.snapp@mma.edu ), at Maine (800)464-6565 or out of ME (800)227-8465.
